Welcome to my blog and thank you for taking a few moments to get to know me and where passion stems from. ACTUALLY, I can’t lie; its longer then a few moments but, trust me, it’s worth your time!
I decided to put a blog together displaying all my creations and work online. I have always had a “gift” of creativeness but didn’t realize it until I was older. As a young girl I would make Barbie clothes and furniture for my younger sister and me. I’m surprised my mom didn’t notice some of our clothes missing because I needed to get fabric from somewhere! Tip: socks can make a great sleeping bag! Once I grew out of playing Barbies, I would still love to set up the furniture for my sisters Barbie house. Still, at this age I had no idea this drive in me was a gift. Through out my teenage years I enjoyed decorating my room. There wasn’t one inch of wall space in my room that didn’t have something on it, ok maybe the ceiling, but heck even that had stuff on it! My dad even let my friends sign their names on my bedroom and closet door!!!! He was crazy!
When I got in high school I fell into a “raving” stage, yeah that’s right, I was a raver! Beads around the neck and wrist, glow sticks, laser beams- yep that was me! I LOVED making my clothes! My theme was always pink- everything had to be pink from my hair to the paint on my clothes. Thread and needle had no meaning to me; all I used was my handy hot glue gun and safety pins! I was a pro at getting the hot glue off my skin in time before the burn set in. You may even say I had hands of steel! My senior year I started thinking about what I wanted to major in and that’s when everything came full circle and I realized all my life what I enjoyed doing could make me money. That’s when I decided to make a career out of it in Interior Design. I went to college at the Art Institute of Dallas and obtained my BFA in Interior Design.
Now I am in the next stage in life and that is creating my family. My husband, Jacob, and I have been together for 5 years. He came along with a beautiful daughter, Nevaeh who is 10 and we have also added our 3 year old daughter, Madelyn. Together we have created a beautiful family; however I look like the nanny because the girls look JUST like him this, by far, is one of the best creations that I have ever made!! Without God we would not be where we are today! He is definitely our foundation and strenth!!
A lot of my inspiration stems from my parents and my upbringing. My mom would decorate our house for holidays and birthday parties. She would make so many fun things for our teachers, friends and random stuff around the house. I see my sisters and I doing the same things now in our homes and with our families. I would always see my dad building and cooking the most random things. He strongly believed “If there is a will there is a way”. My dad is a man of MANY talents and he would rather build something 3 times and fail before he was going to spend his money on it lol! (Did I mention I get my frugalness from him?) I will now tackle jobs that I have no idea if I can do it OR how it’s will even come out. I have to add that I am marrying my “dad” because Jacob has his same drive. He constantly reminds my sisters and me of our dad with his ways! My sisters are another big part of my inspiration. We all push each other so much to do the best and do what makes us happy. I love them so much they are by FAR my Best Friends and, at times, can be my enemies because they tell me what I don’t want to hear when it’s the truth ![]()
I love being creative; making things or changing a space that will make people happy. A gift isn’t a gift unless you share it. I hope you enjoy taking this journey with me on experimenting with new ideas, whether it equals gold or trash, venturing where I have to take a chance on the unknown and sharing laughter so loud that it makes the people around you take a look and wonder WTH (I have the loudest laugh)!
**SIGH** I know this was long and now we have come to the end. Again, thanks for stopping by and welcome into my creative world.
