Craft Party- Decoupage Recipe Boxes

My lovely design friends and I had another successful craft party this past weekend. Every time we get together at one of our home’s we bring dishes and it’s the same story each time “how do you make this?” “Can I have the recipe!?!?” WELL, I was recently invited to a pot luck where you bring your dish and a copy of the recipe for everyone and a light bulb went off instantly thinking of our craft parties. So, I threw the idea out there and figured since were bringing the recipes why not decorate a recipe box for them to go in. At our last winter party one of the girls decoupage a hat box and we all loved it so we decided to venture down the road to decoupage or “mod podge” which ever your prefer.

There was SO much great food! I am a little upset with myself that I didn’t wear some bigger jeans with more stretch in them because I was ready to bust out of them and for sure damage a kidney or something because they were so tight!!!

Priscilla had the party at her house so her little one Alex joined the party with AND Jinxy her dog. Here are the pictures of our super fun party!

We always have to have one person jump out and take the picture so Jill and Leslie are only in one of the pictures. Thanks for taking one for the team ladies!

Here is the good food we all brought and the girls enjoying their food and wine :)

Now time to decoupage some boxes…..actually a few of the girls chose to decoupage something else so you will see their projects.

From left to right : Priscilla and her little one Alex, Taryn and Denise.

From left to right: Jill, me and Leslie aka Lester lol!

Frome left to right: Becca and Nikki. And now some random shots…..

Taryn was the instructor since she was the one that knew the most about it. Let me tell you she is so freaking funny becuase she takes charge “um…excuse me please” and we all have to listen! And you better be tearing your freaking paper pieces not doing straight lines or else your on her black list :)

I’m pretty sure I wasn’t supposed to be in this picture!!

BUT I was supposed to be in this one. Jill why are you so shocked lol!!!!

Becca is such a dedicated worker!!!

I never knew you could decoupage so many things. Denise was making a wine notebook for her mom I believe.

I’m not sure what Nikki was cutting but I am pretty sure she is going to have a sore back when finished :)

Now lets look at some partially finished projects. Priscilla and Alex’s boxes. I am positive Alex’s box had the most adhesive on it. She probably used all of the mod podge on it lol!

Here is Denise’s wine book she covered.

Jill and I with our recipe boxes.

Nikki with her 2 part box….not sure if it was for her recipes or just a general storage box.

Becca was making a keep sake box for a baby shower present. You can sort of see the animals under all her glue.

Another super great idea that I would have never thought of is to decoupage wood letters. Leslie was making “EAT HERE” letters to go above her soffit in her kitchen.

And last but not least our instuctor Taryn. She made a recipe box with the tearing method- super cute!

Here is just a cute shot of little Ms. Alex :)

Now here are some shots of my final recipe box. Let me tell you the hinges on this freaking box were a pain in my butt! Next time I am going with something simple that does not require me to pull out an x-acto knife!

I had SO much fun with this project and all the yummy food! I am for SURE going to take what I learned and make some awesome Christmas gifts!
