Jacob and I have been talking about changing up both the girl’s rooms but have been dragging our feet. We finally got some fire in our butt and started with Nevaeh’s room first. Below is just our thought process and trial and error’s we have gone through to achieve our ultimate goal in giving her a kick butt room!
Let me tell you a little about her room. When we moved in it was multiple colors. Her favorite colors are blue and green and as of about a few weeks ago she is now adding purple; so we wanted to incorporate those colors . A few months ago we painted one wall green and the other along the lines of aqua blue. We realized after we started painting that what the Home Depot worker told us was not enough paint for her walls so we ran short. We left it as is for about a month or so then we decided we were going to do something different with her room. Here are a few before pictures:
Here is the aqua blue wall with her new Ikea dresser we bought her.
Here is the other wall where you will see lots of patches where the paint needed a second coat. I KNOW, I KNOW it looks bad!
Now this wall color and furdown looked like this when we moved in. Let me tell you that deep orange is a hard color to cover.
We decided we wanted to go bright with her wall color so we chose a vibrant green. We left the one wall the aqua blue and painted the remaining bright green.
So here is the bright green Nevaeh liked. We knew we wanted to have Jacob’s cousin come over and paint some art work on her wall and I dont know where the mix up came between him and Jacob but he envisioned his painting on a purple wall. WELL her wall is green! So, his cousin Anthony came over last night and they decided to paint it purple. Not just any purple but he mixed some clearance “oops” paint and this is what he created.
This is them painting and being big goof balls. Anthony is a modern day hippie so I love to hear them throw jokes at each other! They also painted the furdown the same purple. I didnt take a picture of it but I will soon, he started painting a huge tree on the wall (thats why it couldn’t be green!) with super cute swirly branches. I can’t wait to see his final master piece!
Stay tuned there is A LOT more to come with her room. This is only a small taste of our thinking process. I didn’t just want to show the pretty outcome of everything but the thinking process that comes a long with it!
